Wings - Mary Had A Little Lamb b/w Little Woman Love (1972)

"Mary Had a Little Lamb" is a song written by Paul and Linda McCartney and released as a non-album single by the British–American rock band Wings in March 1972. It is based on the traditional nursery rhyme of the same name. 

At the time, some observers such as Roy Carr and Tony Tyler of New Musical Express presumed the song was recorded by McCartney in response to the BBC ban of his previous single, the political "Give Ireland Back to the Irish",but McCartney has denied this, saying that it was a sincere effort to write a song for children. In fact, the song was written before "Give Ireland Back to the Irish", as a demo of the song can be heard during an interview recorded for radio station WRKO in December 1971. For the front and rear cover and the labels, two illustrations by Clara Miller Burd were used.

"Mary Had a Little Lamb" was released as a single on 12 May 1972 in the UK, moved back from its original planned date of the 5th. The record was released in the US on 29 May. On 25 May, the band mimed a performance of the song for BBC TV's Top of the Pops TV show.

The song was attacked by several contemporary rock critics, with one commenting that McCartney had "fallen to tripe" of this genre. However, some critics suspected this immediate change in musical direction to be a deliberately ironic musical manoeuvre.Cash Box said of it that "the nursery rhyme we all know and love gets a bouncy treatment." It reached the top 10 in the UK, peaking at number nine. Some US radio stations also played the pop/rock B-side, "Little Woman Love". Apple Records in the US even revised the picture sleeve for the single to credit both sides by name (see reverse cover), but the single still failed to rise above number 28 in the US.

Janse Bagge Bend - De Mek b/w Amelberga (1983)

De Janse Bagge Bend (JBB) is een Limburgse band uit Susteren die in 1979 werd opgericht.

JBB is begonnen als dweilorkest (ook wel "zaate hermenie") Aspro Broesj (letterlijk: "Aspro Bruis") tijdens de carnaval. In 1979 speelde de zaate hermenie, maar nu met twee elektrische gitaren en de dikke trom ingewisseld voor drums, tijdens de jaarlijkse jamsessie in het jongerencentrum Tsjé.

Het optreden bestond uit één dialectnummer, waarin de totale middenstand van Susteren werd bezongen: de friettenten en de Chinees.

Als opvolger van "Sollicitere" uit 1983, was dit hun tweede single "De Mek" ook uit 1983.

Nooduitgang is een single van de Nederlandse popgroep Het Goede Doel uit 1987. Het stond in 1986 als tiende track op het album Mooi en onverslijtbaar. De versie uitgebracht op single is een liveversie van het lied.

Nooduitgang is geschreven door Henk Temming en Henk Westbroek en geproduceerd door Sander van Herk en Henk Temming. Het is een nederpoplied waarin diverse situaties worden geschetst waarin de liedverteller wil ontsnappen via een nooduitgang. Het lied was de negende single van het album. B-kant van de single was The Sonic Ranger Rides Again, geschreven door Temming en van Herk. 

Het lied bereikte in Nederland de twee grootste hitlijsten. In de Top 40 kwam het tot de 25e plek en stond het vier weken in de lijst. De piekpositie in de Nationale Hitparade was de 33e plek. Het was tien weken in deze hitlijst te vinden.

Nanda heeft maar één single gemaakt. Het bleek om het nummer “Everything Is Allright” te gaan uit de musical Jesus Christ Superstar.

Dave Edmunds With The Stray Cats - The Race Is On b/w (I'm Gonna Start) Living Again If It Kills Me (1981)

"The Race Is On" is a song written by Don Rollins (not to be confused with the Don Rollins who co-wrote "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere" for Alan Jackson and Jimmy Buffett) and made a hit on the country music charts by George Jones and on the pop and easy listening charts by the unrelated Jack Jones. 

 George's version was the first single released from his 1965 album of the same name. 

Released as a single in September 1964, it peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart and at number 96 on the Billboard Hot 100 in January 1965. 

Jack's version topped Billboard's Easy Listening chart and reached number 15 on the Hot 100 the same year. 

The two recordings combined to reach number 12 on the Cashbox charts, which combined all covers of the same song in one listing and thus gave George Jones his only top-40 hit. 

The song uses thoroughbred horse racing as the metaphor for the singer's romantic relationships. 

Rockabilly artist Dave Edmunds, in collaboration with the Stray Cats, whose debut album Edmunds had recently produced, recorded a version for his 1981 album, Twangin.... Released as a single, it peaked at number 34 on the UK charts, but failed to chart in the United States.

Na terugkeer uit Londen in 1982 werd al snel een nieuwe opzet gevonden voor PS. Met slagwerker Thijs Kruyt en Hans Stoop als gitarist waren PS & the Footnotes al snel door EMI getekend. 

Voor de opname van hun eerste singel werd uit de UK toetsenist David Greenslade ingevlogen en kwamen saxofonist Gerbrand Westveen en gitarist Bas Krumperman de sound completeren.

Bij het opnemen van hun tweede singel "No Commitments", werd oud Mixed-Up Band slagwerker Eric Borst weer aan de band toegevoegd want Thijs ging echt werken.

Eagles - I Can't Tell You Why b/w The Greeks Don´t Want No Freaks (1980)

"I Can't Tell You Why" is a song by the American rock band Eagles, which appeared on their 1979 album The Long Run. It was written by band members Timothy B. Schmit, Glenn Frey, and Don Henley. Recorded in March 1978, it was the first song finished for the album and the first Eagles song to feature Schmit on lead vocals. 

Released as a single in February 1980, it became a Billboard top 10 hit in April of that year, reaching number eight on the Billboard Hot 100.

Timothy B. Schmit came up with the song title and composed the nucleus of "I Can't Tell You Why", which he then presented to Glenn Frey and Don Henley and they completed the song together. Henley described the finished song as "straight Al Green", and that Frey, an R&B fan as he came from Detroit and grew up with the music, was responsible for the R&B feel of the song. Frey said to Schmit: "You could sing like Smokey Robinson. Let’s not do a Richie Furay, Poco-sounding song. Let’s do an R&B song."

Schmit describes the song as "loosely based on my own experiences". Schmit said: "I had some writing sessions with Don and Glenn and I threw out a bunch of my ideas and that one [for "I Can't Tell You Why"] stuck. I had [composed] a pretty good part of it, not a huge part but enough for them to think 'That could be good' and go with it. So Don, Glenn and I finished it over a few all night sessions." "When it was being developed in the studio...I knew it was a great song. I [thought] 'Yes! This is an amazing debut for me.' When we finally mixed it, we had a little listening party at the studio. As people were hearing it, Don turned to me and said, 'There's your first hit.'"

Schmit sang the lead vocals on the song, with Frey and Henley singing counterpoint. Schmit also played the bass on the track, which has the distinctive bass riff believed by Schmit to have been devised by Frey. According to Henley, Frey came up with the counterpart on the song, and played the guitar solo on the song.

Faith Hope & Charity - Just One Look b/w Don´t Go Looking For Love (1976)

Faith Hope and Charity was the name of a vocal group from Tampa, Florida. 

They are best known for their 1975 hit, "To Each His Own". They were also an in-demand group of session singers in New York studios during the 1970s.

"Just One Look" is a song co-written by American R&B singers Doris Troy and Gregory Carroll. The recording by Doris Troy was a hit in 1963. The Hollies, Anne Murray and Linda Ronstadt recorded hit versions of their own. There have also been many other versions of this song.

Faith, Hope & Charity scored another hit in January 1976, reaching #38 in the UK Singles Chart with "Just One Look" (from their album, Faith, Hope & Charity).

Fleetwood Mac - Rattlesnake Shake b/w Coming Your Way (1969)

"Rattlesnake Shake" is a song by British rock group Fleetwood Mac, written by guitarist Peter Green, which first appeared on the band's 1969 album Then Play On. The track was considered the high point of its parent album, and was one of the band's crowd-favorites in the late 1960s.

Although "Oh Well" was a hit in the UK, the song was not the group's first single released in the United States. Instead, Clifford Davis, who was Fleetwood Mac's manager at the time, selected "Rattlesnake Shake" to be released in the US since he thought it would become a big hit, but it did not chart anywhere. After the commercial failure of "Rattlesnake Shake", "Oh Well" was released as the second single, and subsequently became a hit on both sides of the Atlantic. Mick Fleetwood ranked the song in his top 11 favorite Fleetwood Mac songs of all-time list since he was able to participate in bringing out the character of the song.

According to Mick Fleetwood, the double-time shuffle near the end of the song was spun out of an improvised jam. "It incorporated the freedom to go off on a tangent, to jam – the classic ‘Do you jam, dude?’ We learned that as players. You hear that alive and well in the double-time structure that I put in at the end, which on stage could last half an hour. It was our way of being in The Grateful Dead."

In a Q&A, Peter Green admitted that "Rattlesnake Shake" was about masturbation, reckoning that the lyrical content was inspired by Fleetwood. Fleetwood would later back up this claim in his 2014 autobiography "Play On", stating that "Rattlesnake Shake" is an ode to masturbation as a cure for the blues. "I'm named in it, as a guy who does the rattlesnake shake to jerk away my sadness whenever I don't have a chick. That was an appropriate immortalisation of my younger self..." To achieve the rustling noises heard at the end of each chorus, Green found it appropriate to insert the sounds of an actual rattlesnake found on an audio tape.
