Queen - Scandal (1989)

"Scandal" is a song by the British rock band Queen. It was released as the fourth single from their 1989 album The Miracle and peaked at #25 in the UK. The single was released in the United States but failed to chart.
"Scandal", written by Brian May, but credited to Queen, is about the unwanted attention May and lead singer Freddie Mercury received from the press in the late 1980s, involving May's divorce from his first wife, Chrissie Mullen, and his relationship with actress Anita Dobson and growing media speculation about Mercury's health.
Mercury was diagnosed with AIDS in April 1987; he did not reveal his condition until the day before his death in November 1991. However, changes in his appearance, particularly his weight loss and rather gaunt look, helped fuel speculation that he was seriously ill.
May recorded the keyboards and guitars in one take. Mercury's vocal was also done in one take.

Boy Meets Girl - Waiting For A Star To Fall (1988)

American pop music duo consisting of keyboardist and vocalist George Merrill and singer Shannon Rubicam
They are perhaps best known for their hit song "Waiting For a Star to Fall" from 1988. As songwriters, the duo composed a pair of #1 hits for Whitney Houston, "How Will I Know" and "I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)".
They wrote the song after witnessing a falling star at a Whitney Houston concert and originally offered the song to Houston, but Arista Records CEO Clive Davis rejected it.
American singer Belinda Carlisle then recorded a demo of the song but refused its inclusion on her 1987 album Heaven on Earth, so Rubicam and Merrill decided to record and release the song themselves.
"Waiting for a Star to Fall" was released in June 1988 as the second single from Boy Meets Girl's second studio album, Reel Life (1988).
The song became a chart hit in several countries, reaching number five on the US Billboard Hot 100.
The tenor saxophone solo on the Boy Meets Girl version was provided in a session recording early in the career of Andy Snitzer, who later found success as a solo artist.

Suzi Quatro - Daytona Demon (1973)

"Daytona Demon" is the fourth solo single and third UK hit by Suzi Quatro, released in 1973. The song is frequently believed to be a revision of Freddy Cannon's "Tallahassee Lassie" and a reference to Daytona Beach in Florida in which Quatro's lover is equated with a fast car.

"Daytona Demon" was never included on the US or other foreign release of her second album Quatro and remained unavailable in any format in the US until the advent of the CD and numerous compilations in the 1990s. "Daytona Demon" has been a staple of Quatro's numerous hits compilation albums since then. On the 2011 expanded issue of Suzi Quatro, “Daytona Demon” and its B-side "Roman Fingers" were included as bonus tracks.

Hildegard Knef, Enrico Macias, Alice Babs, Sandra & Andres, Demis Roussos, Vicky Leandros - Auntie (1972)

Prince And The Revolution - Pop Life (1985)

"Pop Life" is a song by Prince and the Revolution. It was the second US (and final UK) single from their 1985 album, Around the World in a Day, reaching number 7 in the US charts, becoming Prince's eighth top-ten hit in a two-year span.
The song starts with a faded-in synth line and quickly starts the main tune. The easy groove is achieved with a smooth bass guitar and piano embellishments. A drum machine provides handclaps to make the song danceable.
"Pop Life" was recorded before Purple Rain was completed, indicating the new direction Prince wanted to take after the success of that album and film. Lyrically, the song describes the tiresome and stressful side of the celebrity life, including the pressure that can lead to drug use ("What you putting in your nose?/Is that where all your money goes?").

Golden Earring - Kill Me (Ce Soir) b/w Lucky Number (1975)

Dionne Farris - I Know (1995)

"I Know" is a song by American R&B singer Dionne Farris. Written by Milton Davis and William DuVall, it was released in January 1995 as the first single from Farris' debut album, Wild Seed – Wild Flower (1994).
In 1995, Top 40 radio was fragmented because popular songs tended to have either an "alternative" or grunge sound, or were more hip-hop/R&B.
That wasn't the case with this track: It's a pure pop song, and Top 40 radio stations played it like crazy. It was the only hit for Farris as a solo artist.
The song relies on repetition to make its point: The phrase "I know" is repeated at the beginning of most of the lines.
So, what does Dionne Farris know? It sounds like her ex-lover is trying to rekindle their romance (possibly drunk dialing her) but she wants no part of it:

I know why you say you love me
But I can't say the same

It was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance in 1996. Davis and DuVall won an ASCAP Pop Award for writing the song in 1996.

t.A.T.u. – Not Gonna Get Us (2003)

"Not Gonna Get Us" is a song by the Russian music duo t.A.T.u. for their first English-language album, 200 km/h in the Wrong Lane (2002). Interscope Records released it on 21 April 2003 as the second single from the album. It was originally released as "Nas Ne Dogonyat" (Russian: Нас не догонят, IPA: [nas nʲe dɐˈɡonʲət]; translation: "[They] Won't Catch Us") on t.A.T.u.'s debut album, 200 По Встречной (2001).
The song was written by Sergio Galoyan, Trevor Horn, Elena Kiper and Valery Polienko, while production was handled by Horn. "Not Gonna Get Us" is a Eurodance-inspired song, and lyrically it talks about the group running away from people as they don't understand their love towards one another. The song was included on the duo's compilation album The Best (2006).

"Not Gonna Get Us" received mixed reviews from music critics. It was a commercial success, peaking inside the top-ten in countries including Finland, Italy, Austria, Sweden, Belgium, Ireland and the United Kingdom.

The single also reached number one on the US Billboard Dance Club Songs chart, becoming the duo's only number-one single on the US component charts.

An accompanying music video was filmed for the single directed by Ivan Shapovalov, who also features in a cameo appearance. The song has been performed on all of the duo's concert tours and was also performed at the 2003 MTV Movie Awards. In 2009, t.A.T.u. played a special concert featuring the song at the Eurovision Song Contest with a Russian Army Choir, the Alexandrov Ensemble
In February 2014, during the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Sochi, t.A.T.u performed "Нас не догонят". Additionally, the song was sung later in the ceremony when Russia's competitors entered the stadium.

The words "нас не догонят" made their way into 2006 Russian Dictionary of Modern Quotes (Slovar sovremennykh tsitat).

Allman Brothers Band - Revival (Love Is Everywhere) b/w Leave My Blues At Home (1971)

"Revival", sometimes listed as "Revival (Love Is Everywhere)", is a song by the American rock band the Allman Brothers Band. It was the lead single from their second studio album, Idlewild South (1970), released on Capricorn Records. The song was written by guitarist Dickey Betts, his first songwriting credit for the group.
It was the first Allman Brothers song to chart, peaking at number 92 on the Billboard Hot 100 in early 1971.

His first songwriting contribution to the band, guitarist Dickey Betts initially wrote "Revival" as an instrumental. He began singing along, and lyrics came as an afterthought, which was not typical. Betts tended to naturally write instrumental songs first; he later commented, "You have to have an altogether different approach; an instrumental has to be real catchy and when you succeed it’s very satisfying because you have transcended words and communicated with emotion." Duane Allman plays the acoustic guitar heard on "Revival", as he was better at obtaining a nice acoustic sound due to his studio experience.

The song was covered by John Mayall on his 1979's album Bottom Line
