The Jam were an English punk rock/mod revival band active during the late 1970s and early 1980s. "Town Called Malice", which boasts a Motown-style bassline somewhat reminiscent of The Supremes' "You Can't Hurry Love", is a song from the album "The Gift" (1982). It was a double A-side single release featuring "Precious" as the flip side. And it reached # 1 in the UK singles chart.
